1. Dirty Pretty Things (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Amelie fans won’t find any of that flick’s light, flighty charm in Dirty Pretty Things, another effort from actor Audrey Tautou. Instead, the movie presents a dark look at the desperate measures taken by those in need, and it does so in a revealing and generally engrossing manner. Starring Audrey Tautou. Miramax, $29.99, 3/23/2004.

3. Amélie [Blu-Ray] (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite my substantial misgivings, I must admit I enjoyed Amélie, at least to a moderate degree. The movie never fully dispelled my preconceived notions about it, but it managed to present a generally entertaining and amusing piece. The Blu-ray offered very strong picture quality along with restrained but solid sound and a very nice collection of extras.

4. The DaVinci Code: Special Edition (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The film version of The Da Vinci Code takes a hugely successful novel and neuters it for the big screen. Director Ron Howard consistently plays it safe here, a tactic that robs the story of any drama or passion. Starring Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou. Sony, $29.98, 11/14/2006.

6. The DaVinci Code: Extended Cut [Blu-Ray] (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I didn’t like the theatrical version of Code, and the addition of almost a half an hour of extra footage doesn’t improve it. The added material doesn’t harm the movie, though, and fans will be happy to see it. They’ll also like the good new extras found in this Blu-ray release; in particular, the interactive components are consistently interesting. It’s

8. The Jesus Rolls [Blu-Ray] (2020)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Fans of The Big Lebowski may hope to find a worthwhile spinoff via The Jesus Rolls. Unfortunately, it becomes an inane, pointless expansion of a character who can’t sustain a feature film. Starring John Turturro, Bobby Cannavale. Screen Media, $29.98, 5/5/2020.

9. Angels & Demons (2016 Reissue) [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Perhaps I enjoyed Angels & DemonS due to the exceedingly low expectations I felt after the dull Da Vinci Code, but I don’t think so. I’ve now seen it a few times, and I think it offers a fairly lively, taut little adventure. Starring Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor. Sony, $14.99, 10/11/2016.

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Perhaps I enjoyed Angels & Demons due to the exceedingly low expectations I felt after the dull Da Vinci Code, but I don’t think so. I’ve now seen it twice, and I think it offers a fairly lively, taut little adventure. The Blu-ray gives us very good picture and audio along with a decent set of supplements.
